The National Highways connect national and state capitals, major ports, and rail junctions. National Highways cover a total distance of 132500 kilometres. National Highways were responsible for about 40% of traffic despite making up just 2% of the road network. India’s Longest Highway: NH-44
NH 44 is India’s longest national highway. Previously known as National Highway 7, National Highway 44 (NH 44) is a state highway in the United States. The North-South Corridor of the NHDP is covered by NH 44, which is 3,745 kilometres long. It begins in the north with Srinagar and finishes in the south with Kanyakumari.
Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are among the 11 Indian states that this highway passes through.

Top Longest National Highways of India​
NH-44: It is India’s longest National Highway, connecting 3,745 kilometres from Srinagar in the north to Kanyakumari in the south. This highway links 11 states and about 30 major cities. ​​
NH-27: The longest national highway in India, at 3,507 kilometres, connects the eastern and western parts of the country. It is also considered India’s financial pulses since it connects seven states and 47 cities.
NH-48: This highway connects the northern and southern states and covers 2,807 kilometres. This National Highway runs from New Delhi to Chennai. Since it connects India’s central states and towns, it is one of the most heavily used national highways.
NH 52: It is a 2,317-kilometer highway that connects India’s major commercial cities and is considered economically important.
NH-30: This 2,040 km long National Highway runs from Uttarakhand’s Sitarganj to Andhra Pradesh’s Ibrahimpatnam. In India, it is a safe highway with a low rate of traffic accidents.
