Answers & Solutions:

1) Answer (B)

8 people S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z are sitting across a circular table and according to the given information order of their seating is given in the below diagram where W and Y are facing to the center and remaining are facing outwards to the center. Hence, V is the immediate neighbour of Z.

2) Answer (D)

D, the Financial Advisor, sits to third to the left of E as shown in the diagram above.

3) Answer (D)

The data given to us is:

In the given seating arrangement each member sitting in a row faces another member of the other row. G sits second to the right of E. The one who faces E sits to the immediate right of C. A faces the immediate neighbour of E. H sits to immediate left of the person who faces D. H does not sit at an extreme end of the line.

This can be presented in diagramatic form as:

D faces G.

4) Answer (B)

Since it is mentioned that everyone is facing towards the center, Right means anti-clockwise direction and Left means Clockwise direction.

The first cue says that O is the immediate neighbor of both K and Q. This means O is sitting in between K and Q.
This presents 2 possibilities :-

1. K is sitting to the left of O and Q is sitting to the right of O.
2. K is sitting to the right of O and Q is sitting to the left of O.

Now, the next cue says only one person sits between K and J :-

For L and M to be neighbors and neither of them sit next to Q, the arrangement possible is :-

Since 2 persons sit between M and P :-

As we can see, in the second case the last condition can not be held true thus the only case possible is the first one. Thus the final answer set is :-

Hence the answer to this question is (B).

5) Answer (C)

There are 8 people in the circle. Let’s name the position of D as 1. So, the position of M is 3 and the position of P is 8.

Now there are two possibilities for arrangement of Q, W and B.

If Q is 2, then W is 5 and B is 4. But R and T will be next to each other in that scenario.

The only other possibility is when Q is 4. So, W is 7 and B is 6.

So, R is 5 and T is 2. Thus, the diagram is as follows:

That explains the answer.

6) Answer (D)

M is standing at one of the ends.

Considering the case where M is standing at the left end :-

In this case, the condition that the immediate neighbors of J are facing north would not be met. Hence this case is rejected.

So M is standing at the right end of the line.
H is thus facing North. L has to face south.

K is an immediate neighbor of L and is facing north. Also L stands immediate right of K.

Also M and K face the same direction as both are standing at the extreme ends. And the neighbors of H are facing the opposite direction of M.
Now I stands between J and M :-

The immediate neighbors of J face North.
Also no more than 4 people are facing north.

Also since neighbors of O are facing opposite directions w.r.t. each other, the final arrangement becomes :-

2 persons are standing between I and O.

7) Answer (A)

All are facing centre. Since, F sits fourth to the left of B. This means, F sits opposite B. [Since, there are 8 students]

Now, A and H are F neighbours.

case 1 : If A is to the immediate left of F, The, the condition that C is to the third left of A will be invalid as in this case, B is already in that position.

case 2 : A is to the immediate right of F while H is to the immediate left and C is third to the left of A, i.e. immediate left of H.

The arrangement is :

D is to the immediate left of B.

Ans – (A)

8) Answer (E)

G is sitting third to the right of F.

H is not an immediate neighbour of F and G. A is sitting second to the right of H, => H sits 2nd to the right of G and A sits to the immediate left of F.

B is sitting third to the right of C and C is not an immediate neighbour of G, => C sits to the immediate left of A and B sits to the immediate right of F.

D is not an immediate neighbour of H or C, => D sits between B and G, thus E sits between G and H.

Apart from EA, there is only one person sitting between each of the given pairs.

=> Ans – (E)

9) Answer (B)

M is standing third to the right to H and M is standing at one of the extreme ends, => let M is standing at right end, thus H is facing north direction.

L is standing third to the left of H, => L is standing 2nd from left end.

I is standing between J and M, => J is standing to the immediate right of H and I between J and M.

N is not an immediate neighbour of H and one of the immediate neighbours of L is K who is facing north, => O is standing to the immediate left of H.

The immediate neighbours of O face opposite directions with respect to each other, => since H faces north, the other neighbour has to face south (which can’t be K), thus N faces south direction and stands between L and O. Thus, K stands at extreme left end facing north.

The persons standing at the extreme ends face the same direction, => M faces north

The immediate neighbours of J face north, => I also face north.

Not more than four persons are facing north, => L, O and J face south direction.

J is third to the left of N.

=> Ans – (B)

10) Answer (B)

The person from Delhi is second to the right of the person who faces C, => Let the person from Delhi is at the extreme right end of Row-1, thus C will be second from right in Row-2.

The immediate neighbour of person from Delhi faces the person from Patna, => The person from Patna sits to the immediate left of C.

Only one person sits between person from Patna and B, => B sits to the immediate right of C.

One who faces B is second to the left of P, => P sits to the immediate left of person from Delhi.

One who is immediate neighbour of B faces person from Jaipur, => C faces person from Jaipur.

A person facing the person from Jaipur is second to the right of the person from Pune, => Person from Pune is at extreme left end of Row-2.

There is only one person between the person from Jaipur and S, => S is at exreme right end of Row-1.

R faces the person from Surat and R is not from Jaipur, => R faces B, who is from Surat.

The person who is immediate neighbour of D is from Shillong, => D belongs to Patna and C to Shillong.

Also, R is not from Mumbai, => P is from Mumbai.

R is from Chennai, not Delhi.

=> Ans – (B)
