IBPS conducts the exams in 2 stages. The IBPS Clerk prelims exam is just used as a screening test. The exam consists of 100 questions in total split across 3 sections. There will be both individual and overall cutoffs. IBPS shortlists aspirants who qualify the prelims exam for mains exam.

Let us see how to attempt questions in each of the sections to clear the exam in first attempt. The rule of thumb is to attempt the least time-consuming ones first and then to move on to the tougher questions.
1. English language:
Reading comprehension carries 10 marks approximately. Hence, aspirants must not avoid this topic. After reading comprehension, try attempting questions on other topics.
Attempt questions on cloze test and fill in the blanks. Attempt para jumbles question only if you are confident of the order. Take calculated risks but avoid making random guesses.
Develop a reading habit. Most of the questions in this section rely on the ability of a candidate to comprehend the passage. Therefore, having a reading habit will help aspirants to ace this section.
2.Reasoning ability:
Start with the individual questions and then move on to the sets. Also, check for multiple cases while solving the puzzles. Avoid rushing through the sets. Allocate enough time to each set.
3. Numerical ability:
Again, the trick is to start with the least time-consuming questions. Start by solving number series, approximations, quadratic equations and other such questions. Then, move on to DI and miscellaneous questions.

Banking awareness also comprises a significant portion of this section. Therefore, make sure that you read about basic banking terminologies and regulations. Also, one or two questions can appear from global rankings of India in various parameters.
5. Computer awareness/ aptitude:

Chart out a plan and stick to it religiously in this final one month. The number of vacancies is approximately a third of what it was last year. Therefore, make sure that you are at the top of your game during the D-day.
