1) Answer (E)

Time taken by Shweta to complete 300 units of work at a speed of 15units/min = 300/15 = 20
New speed = 1.4*15 = 21 units/min
Time taken by Shweta to complete 300 units of work at a speed of 21units/min = 300/21 ~14
Time difference = 6 minutes

2) Answer (E)

9070 – 15^3 = 5675 , 5675 – 13^3 = 3478 , 3478 – 11^3 = 2147 , 2147 – 9^3 = 1418 , 1418 – 7^3 = 1075 ≠ 1077 , 1075 – 5^3 = 950

With the current => downstream
Against the current => upstream
Let the speed of the boat be ‘s’ and the speed of the river be ‘r’.
So, s – r = 5 and s + r = 15
=>2s = 20 => s = 10 and r = 5 kmph
Speed of the current = 5 kmph

4) Answer (B)

Let the marked price be Rs. 100.
Then cost price = 100 – 40 = Rs. 60
Selling price = 100+ 50 = Rs. 150
Profit = 150 – 60 = 90
Profit%=90/60×100=150%

5) Answer (A)

Let the two numbers be p,q
75% of p means 75/100*p or
3/4 of p, 4/5 of other number means 4/5q.Both are equal.
Hence,3/4p=4/5q hence,p/q=16/15.
Hence the ratio is 16:15,hence, A

6) Answer (D)

Let the earnings of A and B be 8k and 9k respectively.
New earnings of A = 150/100 * 8k = 12k
New earnings of B = 3/4 * 9k = 6.75k
So, 12k : 6.75k = 16 : 9
But, from this equation, we cannot determine the value of k.
So, option d) is the correct answer.

7) Answer (D)

(7-1) x 2 = 12
(12 – 2) x 4 = 40
(40 – 3) x 6 = 222
(222 – 4) x 8 = 1744 ≠ 1742
(1744 – 5) x 10 = 17390
(17390 – 6) x 12 = 208608

8) Answer (A)

Let P+Q+R+S = x where x is bag of fruits.
P = (3/8)x
Q = (1/5)*5x/8 = x/8
Let R and S be fraction by y.
Fruits with R and S = x -3x/8 – x/8 = x/2
SO fruits with R = x/4
