IBPS Clerk 2015 question paper analysis – Prelims exam:
IBPS decided to introduce prelims exam to filter candidates from 2015. Hence, the prelims exam was easy as expected. The prelims exam had 3 sections – English language, Reasoning ability and numerical ability.
The English language section had 30 questions while the other 2 sections had 35 questions each. Each question carried 1 mark and for every wrong answer, 0.25 mark was deducted. The time limit for the exam was 1 hour. Test takers were free to move between various sections while attempting the test.
The IBPS Clerk 2015 question paper also had a few changes as compared to the previous years. Let us look at them in detail.
English Language:
Questions from 5 different topics were asked in this section. Reading comprehension carried 10 marks. Cloze test carried 5 marks and para jumbles carried another 5 marks. Error spotting and phrase replacement carried 5 marks each.
Most of the aspirants felt that the questions were easy.
Numerical ability:
There were 5 questions on numerical ability, and 10 questions were from simplification. There was only one Data Interpretation set and it carried 5 marks. Reasoning ability:
Coded inequalities, seating arrangement (1 set on linear arrangement and 1 on circular arrangement) and puzzle (1 set) formed the major chunk of this section. Together, these 4 topics alone contributed 20 of the total 35 marks.
There were 5 questions based on numbers and the other 10 questions were of miscellaneous type (coding-decoding, directions, blood relations etc.)
Most aspirants deemed the paper easy. The overall cutoff varied from 30 to 60 (depending on the state). A point that has to be noted is that IBPS did not ask any questions on some common topics such as syllogisms and quadratic equations.

Back then, the exam had 5 sections. Hence, Aspirants must go through IBPS Clerk exam pattern 2017 to know about the changes in the pattern this year.
English language section:
The section had 40 questions. Reading comprehension carried 10 marks, cloze test carried 10 marks and para jumbles carried 5 marks. These 3 topics alone accounted for 25 marks out of the total 40 marks. Error spotting, double fillers and sentence improvement carried 5 marks each.
Most test takers considered this section to be easy.
Reasoning ability section:
There were 5 questions from syllogism. Aspirants must note that there were no questions on syllogism in the prelims exam. Hence, aspirants must not set aside any topic and must prepare at least the basics of each topic.
There were 1 puzzle, 1 linear arrangement and 1 circular arrangement (square table) question. Apart from these, there were 5 questions from data sufficiency, 5 questions from inequality, 5 questions from coding decoding. All the other questions were of miscellaneous type (Individual topics).

Numerical ability section:
Surprisingly, there was only 1 DI set in the entire topic. The set had 5 questions. Miscellaneous questions (questions from individual topics) formed an overwhelming part of this section. 20 questions were from such topics. Download IBPS Clerk Quant Maths Tricks.
10 questions were from simplification, and another 5 questions were from number series. Most aspirants felt this section to be easy too.
General awareness sections:
This section had 40 questions. Around 25 questions were from current affairs and static GK. Reading the current affairs for the 6 months preceding the exam proved sufficient.

Computer awareness:
IBPS has clubbed this section with the reasoning section this year.
Back then, this section had 40 questions and most aspirants considered this section to be very easy. A score of 30 was easily achievable through basic reading alone. Hence, aspirants must prepare thoroughly by going through the basics.
