Admission Criteria of IIFT

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organization. IIFT is considered as one of the top-notch B-Schools and Consistently ranked among the top 15 B-schools in India. IIFT exam is conducted for admission into its flagship programme, MBA (International Business) which is being offered at IIFT New Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada campuses. In this article, we will look at the admission/selection criteria of IIFT – as per the latest information available on the official website.

The first step towards getting admission into the IIFT is taking the IIFT Entrance exam. The final selection at the IIFT is based on the candidate’s IIFT exam score, WAT, GD, Personal Interview etc.

The Selection process at IIFT is broadly divided into two stages:

Stage 1 – In the first stage, candidates are shortlisted for the interviews on the basis of their IIFT score, Academic and Gender Diversity etc.

Stage 2 – The second stage is where the college selects based on the Personal Interview (PI) and other factors mentioned below. A Final Score is calculated for the Final Selection. The score of each candidate is calculated (usually out of 100) based on certain parameters, and the final selection list will be made.

Admission/selection criteria at IIFT

Stage 1

In Stage 1 of the selection process, the selection procedure of IIFT is as follows:

The shortlisting of candidates for WATGDPI will be done on the basis of IIFT entrance exam percentiles including sectional cut-offs. The minimum cutoff percentile is decided based on the number of candidates to be shortlisted as per the availability of seats. The cutoff marks for female candidates across all categories are 2 less than the actual cutoff. In addition to the above-stated criterion, Marks obtained in 10th and 12th will be considered.

Stage 2

In the stage 2, which is the final selection, the shortlisted candidates go through the following process:

IIFT scores carry the maximum weightage here, and additional criteria of academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, work experience will be used for final selection.

Rating Scores for Work Experience: Rating Score = (Score from the below table x panel score). The panel will be constituted by IIFT. The panel score ranges from 0 to 1
