UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018 Notification:

Union Public Service will begin online application process for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2018 today. UPSC Civil Services is considered one of the most important government recruitment. Nationality:

For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. For other services, a candidate must be a citizen of India/a subject of Nepal/a subject of Bhutan.

UPSC Civil Services Exam Prelims 2018 Exam Pattern:

Exam Pattern:

The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.

Note :

(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).

(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.

(iii) Each paper will be of two hours duration.

The Preliminary Exam is an objective type exam that comprises of Paper-I and Paper-II.
Paper-I : comprises of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based on Science and Technology, History and Culture, Geography, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Environment and Ecology, and Current Events/Affairs of National and International importance.

Paper-II: comprises of questions to test the Aptitude of the candidate.

 

Application Fees: Candidates are required to pay fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only).

Note: Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee.

UPSC CSE 2018 Selection Process:

Plan of Examination:

The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages.

i)Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination

  1. ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.

Note: Applications are now invited for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination only. Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination will have to apply online again, in the Detailed Application Form which would be made available to them. The Main Examination is likely to be held in September 2018.

Number of Attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination.

Negative marking: 1/3rd mark.

Note: Mobile Phones Banned in the examination hall.
