The UR Rao Satellite Centre, formerly ISRO Satellite Centre is an Indian Space Research Organisation centre for the design, development, and construction of Indian satellites. It was established in the year of 1972 as the Indian Scientific Satellite Project in Peenya Industrial Estates of Bengaluru. ISAC has been renamed as U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) after the former ISRO Chairman and ISAC founding Director Dr Udupi Ramachandra Rao with effect from 2 April 2018.
Situated in Vimanapura Post of Bangalore, Karnataka, the centre has produced and launched its 100th satellite on January 12, 2018, including the INSAT series, the IRS series, and the GSAT communication satellites.
