NITTTR Chennai is one of the National Coordinators for the SWAYAM MOOC project of MHRD. SWAYAM is an integrated Massive Open Online Courses (or MOOCs) portal for online courses of higher education. For ensuring quality content, nine National Coordinators have been appointed. The online courses related to Post-Graduation Education are under the purview of the University Grants Commission (or UGC), and for Under-Graduation Education the Consortium for Educational Communication (or CEC) is coordinating the online course creation. The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (or NPTEL) is coordinating online courses for the Indian Institute of Technology (or IIT) and the Indian Institute of Science (or IISc). The NITTTR Chennai is coordinating online courses for a teachers training program.
