1.Squaring numbers ending in 5:<\/h3>\n
\nLet us take an example:
\nSquare of 55 = 3025<\/p>\n
\nTo get the other digits, take the number excluding the last digit and multiply it by its successor.
\nIn this case, the last 2 digits will be 25. Take 5 and multiply it by (5+1)=6. We get 30 as the result.
\nHence, the result is 3025.<\/p>\n2.Squaring numbers close to 50 or 100:<\/h3>\n
\nWrite this number as (100-3)
\nNow, we can expand the term using (a-b)^2 identity.
\nExpanding we get, 10000+9 -600 = 9409.
\nAs you can see, it is much easier than calculating mechanically.<\/p>\n
\nSquare of 53 = (50+3)^2 = 2500 + 9 + 300 = 2809.<\/p>\n3.Multiplying numbers close to 50 or 100:<\/h3>\n
\nEg) 43*98 = 43*(100 – 2)
\n= 4300 – 86
\n= 4214
\nWrite the number closer to 100 as (100+x) or (100-x). Then, using the distributive property of multiplication multiply them. Doing so will greatly ease the entire process.<\/p>\n4.Problems on unitary methods:<\/h3>\n
\nA takes 10 days to complete work. => A completes 2 units of work per day.
\nA and B together take 2 days to complete work. -=> A+B complete 10 units of work per day.

\nA+B can complete the work in 2 days.=>A+B complete 50% of work in a day.
\n=> B completes 40% of the work in a day. Therefore, B will complete the work in 2.5 days.<\/p>\n5.Consecutive discounts:<\/h3>\n
\n=> Net discount = 10+20 – 200\/100 =30-2 =28%.<\/p>\n6.Multiplying numbers equidistant from a multiple of 10:<\/h3>\n
