Directive Principles Of State Policy are enumerated in Part IV <\/b><\/strong>of the constitution from Articles 36 to 51<\/b><\/strong>.Directive Principles Of State Policy are borrowed from the Irish Constitution.<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>According to Article 37<\/b><\/strong>, these Directive Principles of State Policy are\u00a0non-justiciable <\/b><\/strong>in nature.<\/p>\n

CLASSIFICATION OF DPSP:<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/b><\/strong>Socialistic Principles:<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1)Article 38<\/b><\/strong>: To promote the welfare of the people by securing a social order permeated by justice – social, economical & political<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0– and to minimise inequalities <\/b><\/strong>in income, status, facilities and opportunities. The 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0provision \u00a0is added by the 44<\/b><\/strong>th<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Constitutional Ammendment Act, 1978.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

2)Article 39<\/b><\/strong>: To Secure (a)the right to adequate means of livelihood<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0for all citizens (b) the equitable distribution of material resources <\/b><\/strong>of the community for the common good(c)prevention of concentration of wealth<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and means of production(d) equal pay<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0for equal work for men & women(e)preservation of the health and strength<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0of workers and children against forcible abuse(f)opportunities for the healthy<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0development of children<\/b><\/strong>.Article 39(f) is added by the 42<\/b><\/strong>nd<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Constitutional Ammendment Act, 1976.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

3)Article 39A<\/b><\/strong>:To promote equal justice<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and to provide free legal aid<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0to the poor.It is added by the 42<\/b><\/strong>nd<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Ammendment Act, 1976<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4)Article 41<\/b><\/strong>: To secure the\u00a0right to work<\/b><\/strong>, to education and to public assistance in cases of unemployment, old age, sickness & disablement.<\/p>\n

5)Article 42<\/b><\/strong>: To make provision for just and humane conditions for work <\/b><\/strong>& maternity relief.<\/p>\n

6)Article 43<\/b><\/strong>: To secure a living wage<\/b><\/strong>, a decent standard of life and social and cultural oppurtunities for all workers.<\/p>\n

7)Article 43A<\/b><\/strong>: To take steps to secure the participation of workers in the\u00a0management of industries<\/b><\/strong>.It is added by the 42<\/b><\/strong>nd<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Constitutioinal Ammendment Act, 1976<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

8)Article 47<\/b><\/strong>: To raise the level of nutrition <\/b><\/strong>and the standard of living of people & to improve public health.<\/p>\n

2.Gandhian Principles:<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1) Article 40<\/b><\/strong>: To organise village panchayats<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and endow them with necessary powers & authority to enable them to function as units of self-government.<\/p>\n

2)Article 43<\/b><\/strong>:To promote cottage industries<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0on an individual or cooperation basis in rural areas.<\/p>\n

3)Article 43B<\/b><\/strong>: To promote voluntary formation, autonomous functioning, democratic control and profesional management of cooperative societies<\/b><\/strong>.It is added by 97<\/b><\/strong>th<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Ammendment Act, 2011<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4)Article 46<\/b><\/strong>: To promote the educational<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and economic interests<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0of SCs, STs,<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and other weaker sections of the society and to protect them from social injustice and exploitation.<\/p>\n

5)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>7<\/b><\/strong>: To prohibit the consumption of intoxicating drinks and drugs <\/b><\/strong>which are injurious to health.<\/p>\n

6)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>8<\/b><\/strong>: To prohibit the slaughter of cows, calves<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and other milch and draught cattle and to improve their breeds.<\/p>\n

3.Liberal-Intellectual Principles:<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>4<\/b><\/strong>: To secure for all citizens a\u00a0uniform civil code<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0throughout the country<\/p>\n

2)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>5<\/b><\/strong>: To provide childhood care <\/b><\/strong>and education for all children until they complete the age of six years<\/b><\/strong>.This provision was added by the\u00a086<\/b><\/strong>th<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Ammendment Act, 2002<\/b><\/strong>. The provision previously was to provide free and compulsory education for all children until the age of 14 years.<\/p>\n

3)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>8<\/b><\/strong>: To organise agriculture and animal husbandry<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0on modern and scientific lines.<\/p>\n

4)Article 48A<\/b><\/strong>: To protect and improve the environment<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and to safeguard forests and wildlife.This provision was added by the 42<\/b><\/strong>nd<\/b><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Ammendment Act, 1976<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5)Article 4<\/b><\/strong>9<\/b><\/strong>:To protect monuments, places and objects <\/b><\/strong>of artistic or historic interest which are declared to be of national importance.<\/p>\n

6)Article <\/b><\/strong>50<\/b><\/strong>:To separate<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0the judiciary<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0from the executive<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in the public services of the state.<\/p>\n

7)Article <\/b><\/strong>51<\/b><\/strong>: To promote international peace<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0security<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and maintain just and honourable relations between nations : to foster respect for international law and treaty obligations and to encourage \u00a0settlement of international disputes by arbitration.<\/p>\n\n
