From 9 Tiger Reserves initially, the coverage under the Project Tiger has been increased to 50 Tiger Reserves spread in 18 states. Tiger Reserves cover 2.21% geographical area of the country.<\/p>\n \u2018Project Tiger\u2019 is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change . It provides assistance to the tiger States for the conservation of tigers in designated tiger reserves.<\/p>\n National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is a statutory body of the Ministry .
