1) Answer (D)<\/strong><\/p>\n

let the length of rectangle be L units and breadth be B units.<\/p>\n

So area of rectangle = L x B<\/p>\n

As both length and breadth has been increased by 20%<\/p>\n

So new length = 1.2L<\/p>\n

New breadth = 1.2B<\/p>\n

New area = 1.2L x 1.2B = 1.44LB<\/p>\n

Percentage increase in area = $\\frac{1.44LB – LB}{LB}$\u00d7100 = 44%<\/p>\n

2) Answer (B)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let each vessel contain 28 litres of mixture<\/p>\n

=> Total quantity of mixture in 3 containers = 3*28 = 84 litres<\/p>\n

=> Total quantity of milk = $(\\frac{6}{7} + \\frac{5}{7} + \\frac{3}{4})$ * 28<\/p>\n

= $\\frac{24 + 20 + 21}{28}$ * 28 = 65 litres<\/p>\n

Now, total quantity of water = 84-65 = 19 litres<\/p>\n

=> Required ratio = 65 : 19<\/p>\n

3) Answer (B)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let the 6 consecutive numbers be a-3,a-2,a-1,a,a+1,a+2<\/p>\n

average = $\\frac{SumofElements}{NumberofElements}$<\/p>\n

It is given that average of 6 consecutive numbers be k and hence<\/p>\n

k = $\\frac{a-3+a-2+a-1+a+a+1+a+2}{6}$ = $\\frac{6a-3}{6}$ = a – $\\frac{1}{2}$<\/p>\n

now next two numbers (a+3, a+4) are also added<\/p>\n

Sum of 8 numbers = a-3+a-2+a-1+a+a+1+a+2+a+3+a+4 = 8a +4<\/span><\/p>\n

average of 8 numbers = $\\frac{8a+4}{8}$ =\u00a0a + $\\frac{1}{2}$\u00a0= k + 1<\/span><\/p>\n

so average of 8 numbers is more than average of 6 numbers by = k+1 – K = 1<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Answer (A)<\/strong><\/p>\n

As incomes of A and B are in the ratio 3 : 2. So , assume incomes of A and B be 3z and 2z respectively<\/p>\n

As the expenditure are in the ratio 5:3. So assume expenditure of A and B be 5y and 3y respectively<\/p>\n

Now it is given that every one saves Rs 1000<\/p>\n

3z – 5y = 1000 ……….(1)<\/p>\n

2z – 3y = 1000……….(2)<\/p>\n

Solving equations 1 and 2<\/p>\n

y = Rs 1000<\/p>\n

z = Rs 2000<\/p>\n

hence income of A = 3z = 3 x 2000 = Rs 6000<\/p>\n

We know that sum of cubes of first n natural numbers is = $(\\frac{n(n+1)}{2})^2$<\/p>\n

B = 13x + 18<\/p>\n

$\\frac{8x+18}{13x + 18}$ = $\\frac{5}{7}$<\/p>\n

As it is mentioned that in a 729 ml mixture of milk and water ,the ratio of Milk : water = 7:2<\/p>\n

amount of water = $\\frac{2}{9}$ x 729 ml = 162 ml<\/p>\n

Let the amount of water added be y ml<\/p>\n

So it is given that :<\/p>\n

=> $\\frac{567}{162+y}$ = $\\frac{7}{3}$<\/p>\n

=> $162 + y = 243$<\/p>\n

=> $y$ = 243-162 = 81 ml<\/p>\n

let the four numbers be a,b,c,d<\/p>\n

Using formula average = $\\frac{SumofElements}{NumberofElements}$<\/p>\n

Now, the average of first 3 numbers = 16<\/p>\n

=> Sum of first 3 numbers=a+b+c = 16 \u00d7 3 = 48………. (1)<\/p>\n

Also, average of last three numbers = 15<\/p>\n

=> Sum of last three numbers = b+c+d = 15 \u00d7 3 = 45……(2)<\/p>\n

Subtracting equation (2) from (1)<\/p>\n

=> a – d = 3<\/p>\n

Since, d = 20<\/p>\n

=> a – 20 = 3<\/p>\n

=> a = 23<\/p>\n

let the income be Rs 100<\/p>\n

As it is given that he spends 75% of his income so his spending is = Rs 75<\/p>\n

Saving =100-75=Rs25<\/p>\n

Now his income is increased by 20% .So his new income is = 1.2×100 = 120 Rs<\/p>\n

His expenditure increased by 10 % .So his new expenditure is = 1.1x 75 = 82.5 Rs<\/p>\n

New savings= 120 – 82.5 = Rs 37.5<\/p>\n
