Question 9

Given below are two statements:
Statement I: $$\frac{\sqrt{7}+\sqrt{5}}{\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{5}}+\frac{\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{5}}{\sqrt{7}+\sqrt{5}}=2$$
Statement II: If $$a+b+c=0$$, then $$(a^{3}+b^{3}+c^{3})\div abc=3$$
In light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below

Solution

From statement 1 we get
Adding taking LCM
$$\frac{\left(\sqrt{\ 7}+\sqrt{\ 5}\right)^2+\left(\sqrt{\ 7}-\sqrt{\ 5}\right)^2}{7-5}$$
= 12
So statement 1 is false
Now statement 2 is an identity
so 2 is true .
